Liverpool begin negotiations over €60m transfer

Liverpool could snap up a young player for €60m this summer.

The player in question is Sporting CP midfielder, Manuel Ugarte.

The 22-year-old is expected to leave the club at the end of the season.

Now, according to Rodrigo Romano, Liverpool have opened talks with Sporting regarding a summer transfer.

The player’s agent, Jorge Mendes, is currently brokering talks between the two parties.

Ugarte is under contract with Sporting until 2026 and has a release clause of €60m.

Ugarte joined Sporting in August of 2021 for €10.5m. he has since featured 83 times for his current club, providing one goal and three assists.

The Uruguayan international is a defensive midfielder by trade and would likely be cover or a long-term replacement for Fabinho at Liverpool.

The Brazilian has been far from his best for large periods this campaign and Liverpool will likely be looking for competition in that spot this summer.

Especially as a number of their current midfielders, including James Milner and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, are out of contract at the end of this season and will leave for free.
