Leeds star seals loan move to Germany

Championship outfit Leeds United have, on Sunday, confirmed the departure of a high-profile member of the club’s first-team squad.

The player in question? Brenden Aaronson.

Attacking midfielder Aaronson, of course, only made the move to Elland Road last summer, on the back of a fine spell in Austria with Red Bull Salzburg.

The United States international, from here, went on to feature in all but two of Leeds’ Premier League fixtures.

Often struggling to make a telling impact in the final third, however, Aaronson was amongst a host of members of the Whites’ squad singled out for heavy criticism, en route to the club’s eventual relegation.

In turn, it has not come as a major surprise, on Sunday, to hear of the 22-year-old sealing a swift exit from west Yorkshire.

‘Leeds United midfielder Brenden Aaronson has today joined Union Berlin on loan until the end of the 2023/24 season.

‘We would like to wish Brenden good luck during his time at the Stadion An der Alten Forsterei.’

The deal is not understood to feature an option to buy.
