Relegation candidates Everton has finally found a solution to a lack of depth through the center-forward channel under boss Sean Dyche after the Toffees reached a full agreement with Serie A outfit Udinese for Portuguese striker Beto.
Per Fabrizio Romano, Everton have agreed to splash at least €30m for the big center-forward, with Beto set to travel to the northwest of England to complete his medical tomorrow ahead of being fully unveiled at Goodison Park.
A completed deal for Beto comes in the wake of Dominic Calvert-Lewin once again dealing with another injury concern after fracturing his cheekbone, which inevitably has exposed the lack of trusted center-forward depth at the club.
Beyond DCL, Dyche has just Neal Maupay and summer signing Chermiti to call upon in place of the England international, which is a massive absence in a system under the Everton manager that relies so heavily on center-forward play.
The 25-year-old Beto arrives on the blue half of Merseyside after two credible seasons in Friuli with Udinese, becoming a key attacking focal point while hitting double figures in both 2021-22 and 2022-23.
Whether it will be enough to help the club escape the clutches of relegation remains to be seen but at the very least, a second option, or even a partner to, Calvert-Lewin could prove decisive.
