Chelsea trying to hijack deal for Bundesliga right-back

Chelsea are trying to hijack PSG’s deal for Nordi Mukiele, it has been reported.

Nordi Mukiele is currently honing his craft in the Bundesliga with RB Leipzig, who he signed for back in 2018.

The German outfit snapped the right-back up from Montpellier for a reported €16m.

Since making the move to Leipzig, Mukiele has gone on to firmly cement himself as a key cog in Leipzig’s backline.

All told, the Frenchman has featured on 145 occasions for Die Roten Bullen. In said ties, he has scored 10 goals and provided 11 assists.

Mukiele would also recently earn his first senior France cap, with that coming on the 7th of September, 2021.

Mukiele, as already mentioned, is a right-back by trade, and this is where he has played the majority of his career.

However, as well as being capable of operating as a right-wing-back in a back-five, Mukiele is also well versed in the centre-back spot.

In theory, this would make the Frenchman an excellent target for Chelsea. Both Reece James and Cesar Azpilicueta are natural right-backs who have adapted to playing both as a wing-back in a five and also as a right-sided centre-back in a three.

And as Azpilicueta could leave Stamford Bridge this summer, Mukiele would seemingly be an excellent replacement.

As a result, Chelsea fans will probably be pleased to read that Chelsea are trying to hijack PSG’s deal for Mukiele, jumping into the race after a full verbal agreement was signed between the defender and the French champions:
