The player in question is Romelu Lukaku.
Lukaku’s time back at Chelsea did not go to plan at all. He had a dismal 2021/22 season with the Blues and was thus loaned back to Inter Milan for the last campaign.
But with Chelsea under new management and the west Londoners severely lacking in goals last season, some fans may have thought that Lukaku would be given a second chance under Mauricio Pochettino.
However, that does not look to be the case, with an update from Fabrizio Romano claiming both the club and Lukaku want to part ways this summer:
“I’ve had plenty of fans asking for an update on this, and if there’s any chance Mauricio Pochettino could give Romelu Lukaku another chance at Chelsea,” Romano said.
“I’m not in Pochettino’s head so I can’t predict what’s going to happen, you never know in football. But the situation right now and as of today is that Chelsea are trying to sell Lukaku, while Lukaku wants to find another club.
“So they both want to part ways and move on, 100% guaranteed. This is the priority of both parties.”
