According to Caught Offside, Barcelona defender Jules Kounde looks to be on the market this summer following recent transfer rumours linking him with Newcastle United.
The France international has also been offered to Manchester United, with the Red Devils known to be in the market for a centre-back.
Kounde was a key figure at Barcelona last campaign. Injuries saw him miss a few games but he started 29 times as La Blaugrana beat Real Madrid to the league title with a superb defensive record.
However, Barca’s financial issues mean they may need to offload Kounde this summer, and Newcastle have previously also asked about the former Sevilla man.
But Manchester United are too in the market for a new stopper. Napoli’s Kim Min-jae has been the main name linked with an Old Trafford switch of late, but Kounde would also be an excellent option for Erik ten Hag’s side.
The former Sevilla man is a natural centre-back so can easily rotate with Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez, but he is also more than competent in the right-back role, which would allow Diogo Dalot to start on the left-hand side of defence when needed.
