Barcelona ‘advancing’ in expensive loan swoop for Atletico Madrid star

Barcelona are making progress in a bid to bring an out-of-favour member of the attacking setup at La Liga rivals Atletico Madrid to the Camp Nou, according to reports.

The player in question? Joao Felix.

The name of frontman Felix, of course, has long proven one on the lips of many a Barcelona supporter.

This comes after the Portuguese, back in July, publicly announced his desire to line out in the colours of Xavi Hernandez’s troops.

“I’d love to play for Barça,” Felix began. “Barcelona has always been my first choice and I’d love to join Barça. It was always my dream since I was a kid. If it happens, it will be a dream come true for me.”

The 23-year-old, who is understood to have been deemed surplus to requirements by Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone, has in turn since been hotly tipped to take his talents to Catalunya.

And, if the latest word stemming from the media is anything to go by, then developments towards precisely that have been kicked firmly into motion.

As per a report from transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio, negotiations are ‘advancing’ over a deal which would see Felix take his talents to Barcelona on loan for the coming season.

Any such agreement, it is understood, would see Atletico net a fee of €7-8 million.

It is as of yet unclear whether the transfer would include an option to buy.
