Atletico Madrid star prepared to ‘wait’ for Barcelona switch

A headline member of the attacking setup at Spanish giants Atletico Madrid is prepared to wait until the last minute of the summer transfer window to seal a dream move to La Liga rivals Barcelona, according to reports.

The player in question? Joao Felix.

The subject of Felix’s future has of course taken its place centre stage in the headlines in Spain’s capital once more over the course of recent weeks.

This comes after Premier League giants Chelsea opted against making their loan move for the Portuguese international a permanent one.

Felix, in turn, has been left with little choice but to link back up with parent club Atletico.

And though Diego Simeone has publicly insisted that he is more than ready to welcome the 23-year-old back into the fray, media speculation has continued to point towards tension between the pair.

As alluded to above, though, if the latest word doing the rounds on Thursday is anything to go by, then the gifted frontman has himself set his sights on an altogether different landing spot – Barcelona.

Word surrounding a potential Camp Nou switch for Felix first came to the fore last weekend.

This came amid suggestions that the Portuguese had long identified Barca as his ‘dream’ club.

As a result, it did not come as a major surprise when Felix sent something of a ‘come and get me’ plea to the Blaugrana brass, in announcing that ‘I’d love to play for Barca’ on Tuesday night:

And now, on Thursday, a further insight into the situation has been forthcoming.

The info, on this occasion, comes courtesy of transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who has confirmed that Felix is prepared to wait it out for the rest of the summer, to link up with Xavi Hernandez’s Blaugrana.

Not only that, but, significantly, it is also noted that Barcelona themselves are ready to make their move for the former Benfica prodigy.
