Arsenal man makes surprise exit

A key Arsenal figure has made a surprise exit.

Arsenal’s first-team assistant coach Steve Round has left the club by mutual agreement, which is a surprise ahead of the upcoming season.

According to The Athletic, Round has left the Emirates despite having two years remaining on his contract.

Round joined Mikel Arteta’s coaching staff when the Spaniard took charge of the club in December 2019.

He helped Arsenal win the FA Cup in his first season at the club as well as winning the 2020 Community Shield.

In a message that was sent to the club’s colleagues, Arsenal sporting director Edu Gaspar thanked Round for his contribution over the last four years and wished him well for the future.

No information is given on who will replace Round in Arteta’s staff, but if he has left the club so close to pre-season getting underway, you would assume that the Gunners have some form of replacement in mind ahead of the 2023/24 campaign.
