Arsenal boost as club pull out of race for transfer target

Arsenal look to have been handed a boost on the transfer front.

The player in question is Ilkay Gundogan of Manchester City.

The German midfielder is out of contract with the Sky Blues at the end of this month and has been tipped for an Etihad exit.

Gundogan has cemented a reputation as a big-game player in the last few years, most recently netting twice to win Man City the FA Cup final to help Man City wrap up their first-ever proper treble.

Now though, the future of Gundogan remains up in the air.

Some reports have speculated Man City want to keep him at the club beyond this season.

Elsewhere, FC Barcelona, Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund – his former club, have been linked with a transfer.

This leaves Arsenal to battle with a Barcelona side who are experiencing financial issues.
