Arsenal add attacking midfielder to transfer list, deal could be done for less than £50m

Arsenal have added a quality attacking midfielder to their transfer list.

The player in question is James Maddison of Leicester City.

Arsenal have added Leicester City attacking midfielder James Maddison to their list of options in the transfer market this summer, as per the Mirror. The England international is said to be on the Gunners’ radar, though the club’s priority remains a move for West Ham’s Declan Rice.

It has previously been claimed by the Daily Mail that Maddison could cost less than £50m if Leicester do go down, with Arsenal’s north London rivals Tottenham previously mentioned as suitors for the 26-year-old.

Similarly, Arsenal have seen themselves linked with a move for Mason Mount this year, though on paper, Maddison seems like a much better choice.

Maddison is a natural no.10, so he can provide quality cover for Martin Odegaard, which Arsenal currently do not have.

However, he is also proficient on the right, meaning he can rotate with Bukayo Saka in an area Arsenal have very few options, especially if Reiss Nelson decides to leave the club in the upcoming transfer window.
