Tottenham were strongly linked with a move for Inter Milan’s Alessandro Bastoni last summer.
The Italian was Antonio Conte’s number-one target as Spurs went after a new central defender.
However, the deal failed to materialise with the 23-year-old opting to stay at the San Siro.

Bastoni made it clear that his desire was to remain with his boyhood club Inter Milan.
Conte was desperate to sign a player who he had much success with in the past.
The Italian coach gave a young Bastoni his chance at Inter and the defender went on to become a key part of their title-winning team.
Spurs instead moved for Clement Lenglet on loan.
Now, Bastoni has confirmed the rumours of the north London club’s interest.
Bastoni told Calciomercato: “Conte did he want me at Tottenham? There was some contact, but I’m glad I stayed.”
