Manchester United could seal a 70m euro double signing this January if they firm up their interest in World Cup pair, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
The Red Devils are in need of reinforcements despite a bright start under new boss Erik ten Hag, with Cristiano Ronaldo’s explosive departure following an astonishing interview leaving a major hole at the top of the pitch. This, combined with Anthony Martial’s consistent injury woes and Marcus Rashford’s seeming preference to play out wide, leaves United needing a no.9.
And one of those that they have looked at is Lille striker Jonathan David, who has impressed in Ligue 1 with 9 goals and 3 assists to his name in 15 outings so far this season. It follows a strong 2021-22 campaign, where he netted 15 times.
As per Romano, the forward will be available this January for just 45m euros (£39m), should United wish to pull the trigger on the addition of the Canadian no.9 despite his underwhelming performances at the World Cup.

Meanwhile, right back is also an area of concern for the Red Devils, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka having been frozen out and Diogo Dalot the only recognised option for Ten Hag as it stands.
And one mooted option is Jeremie Frimpong, the Bayer Leverkusen wing back who has been part of the Netherlands World Cup squad this tournament, though he has not yet appeared in Qatar.
He could leave in January too, with the Dutchman reportedly available for as little as 20m euros as per Romano, which could prove a price tag too tempting to turn down for compatriot Ten Hag.
