Tottenham readying summer swoop for Crystal Palace star

The transfer team at Tottenham Hotspur have set their sights on a key member of the defensive setup at capital rivals Crystal Palace with a view to the summer, according to reports.

The player in question? Marc Guehi.

It is of course common knowledge that the powers that be on the Lilywhite half of north London are eyeing central defensive reinforcements ahead of next season.

This comes with Davinson Sanchez looking increasingly likely to depart, and Clement Lenglet primed to return to parent club Barcelona.

In turn, to this point, a whole host of stoppers have already been touted as potential additions to Antonio Conte’s squad.

The likes of Piero Hincapie, Josko Gvardiol and Alessandro Bastoni are all understood to be on the wishlist at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

As per a report from the reliable Nizaar Kinsella of the Evening Standard:

‘Tottenham are interested in signing Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi this summer.’

Guehi, of course, has long established himself as one of the most highly-regarded up-and-coming defensive talents in England.

Still just 22, and now a fully established Three Lions international, he is therefore viewed as the potential long-term partner for Cristian Romero in north London.

Guehi’s elite talents, though, mean that he will not come cheap, with Tottenham likely to be required to break the bank to lure ‘a big part’ of boss Patrick Vieira’s plans away from Selhurst Park.
