Arsenal star Thomas Partey has taken to social media on Sunday, to send a message of farewell to now-former teammate Granit Xhaka.
For those who may have missed it, midfielder Xhaka’s Arsenal exit was finally confirmed earlier this week.
With Declan Rice of course primed to make his way to The Emirates in short order, it had long been rumoured in the media that Xhaka had been identified as the odd man out in Mikel Arteta’s squad.
After Bayer Leverkusen tabled an offer of €25 million to bring the Swiss international back to The Bundesliga, it therefore came as little surprise when word was forthcoming on Thursday that he, in turn, had indeed been sold.
‘Granit Xhaka has joined Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen on a permanent transfer,’ Arsenal confirmed in an official statement.

Swiftly following the announcement of Xhaka’s departure came a host of tributes and farewell messages, from fans, players and more.
In a post on his official Instagram account, Thomas Partey, who of course formed the base of Arsenal’s midfield alongside Xhaka this past season, unveiled a photo of the pair on the pitch.
The image in question was also accompanied by the simple caption:
