Tottenham 2 – Barcelona 4

Are Tottenham heading out of the Champions League in the group phase?

Spurs have lost their opening two matches in this season’s competition.

After losing 2-1 at Inter Milan, Barcelona beat Mauricio Pochettino’s men on Wednesday night at Wembley.

Philippe Coutinho opened for Barca, before Ivan Rakitic doubled the lead with a stunning volley.

Harry Kane found the target in the 52nd minute, but Leo Messi re-established Barcelona’s 2-goal cushion in the 56th.

Erik Lamela renewed Tottenham’s hopes in the 66th when he made it 2-3, but a late Messi goal sealed a deserved win for the Catalans.

Erik Lamela got a gift from Leo Messi

After the match, Erik Lamela revealed how he got Leo Messi’s shirt after the game.

Of course Lamela and Messi are both Argentinian.

Lamela told reporters he needed to get Messi’s shirt for his dad.

Indeed, Lamela said his dad would have “killed him” if he hadn’t snagged the jersey.

In a dig in Cristiano Ronaldo’s direction, Lamela also hailed Messi as the greatest of all time.
