FC Barcelona and Uruguay have both been dealt a major blow following an injury suffered by Ronald Araujo.
The defender has picked up a thigh injury and will undergo surgery.
He is now likely to miss this winter’s World Cup although the recovery timeline has not yet been determined.
Now, according to Marca, Barça will receive compensation from FIFA as he sustained the injury whilst on international duty.
Barcelona’s Araujo compensation
Barcelona will receive up to a maximum of €20,458-per-day from FIFA as compensation.
After 28 days, FIFA will start paying Barça for every day Araujo misses until he returns to full training.
Following talks with the club, the defender agreed to undergo the surgery which will hopefully see him avoid a recurrence of the injury.
