Revealed: How many games Manchester United’s Paul Pogba is expected to miss

Manchester United struggle

Manchester United currently find themselves in sixth place in the Premier League table, nine points off early pacesetters Chelsea, and on a horrible run of form.

The Red Devils have taken just four points from a possible 18 across their last six Premier League games, and have suffered back-to-back home humiliations, 5-0 to Liverpool and 2-0 to Manchester City, which has piled the pressure on boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

In Europe, the outlook is only rosier thanks to moments of Cristiano Ronaldo brilliance. A last-minute strike against Villarreal stole three points, while he also found a winner against Atalanta, before scoring a late equaliser in the return game in Bergamo. It leaves United top of their Champions League group, but, considering their current form, you would not back them to go much further.

The Red Devils also suffered a shock loss at the hands of West Ham in the Carabao Cup, depriving them of a very real possibility of silverware this season, and effectively leaving the club with the Champions League and FA Cup as their only avenues of success.

Although not an excuse for their poor form, the absence of Paul Pogba is clearly having an effect on the side, albeit a self-inflicted one after a red card against Liverpool just 15 minutes after coming on as a substitute.

However, the situation now looks much worse.

Pogba picks up injury

While in training for his national side, France, Pogba suffered a serious injury.

It was initially thought that the Frenchman would miss the rest of 2021 with the issue, and he has since been sent to Dubai in order to recover, suggesting he will not be back with the Red Devils any time soon.

But how many games will Pogba miss?

As per Sami Mokbel of the Daily Mail, Pogba is not expected back this year, meaning that he will miss key clashes with Arsenal, Chelsea, Villarreal and Brighton, and all told could miss a whopping 11 games given the unforgiving nature of the festive fixture list.

Pogba is additionally expected to miss the first game of 2022, at home to Wolves, as he continues his recovery, with an FA Cup tie the following weekend a good time to reintegrate him, should the midfielder recover as planned.

For the Red Devils, it means a potential 12 games without their record signing.
