Revealed: How long Manchester City are set to be without Rúben Dias due to a hamstring injury

Manchester City’s defence of their Premier League title has been dealt a blow with Rúben Dias picking up a bad hamstring injury.

The defending champions are now set for an extended period without their the key defender.

Pep Guardiola’s side return after the break five points behind league leaders Arsenal.

Dias ruled out for extended period

Rúben Dias is out for up to a month after suffering a hamstring injury, according to Jack Gaughan.

The defender picked up the injury against Switzerland and completed the full 90 minutes.

He then went on to play the full 90 minutes again against Morroco in the quarter-finals.

City still have plenty of other options though with Aymeric Laporte, Nathan Aké, Manuel Akanji and John Stones.

Matches Dias is set to miss

One month out of action could potentially see the Portuguese defender miss up to eight league fixtures.

He would miss key games against Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham during the run.

Although, the Daily Mail add that he is hoping to prove his fitness ahead of the Manchester derby on January 14.
