Revealed: How Gabriel Jesus was convinced to join Arsenal

An insight into why Gabriel Jesus joined Arsenal this summer has been provided

Arsenal announced Jesus as their player on July 4th. The Gunners are understood to have paid £45m for the South American, with Jesus putting pen to paper on a five-year contract.

Jesus has also been given the no.9 shirt and is set to be the north Londoner’s main source of goals this season.

This comes despite the South American never really being used as a no.9 on a regular basis for Manchester City in the past.

Why Jesus joined Arsenal

The Gunners have no Champions League football this season and are obviously not going to win as many trophies as Manchester City.

So what made Jesus switch clubs? Well, an insight into why Jesus joined Arsenal has been provided, with Arsenal defender and international teammate of Jesus, Gabriel Magalhaes, explaining he played a role in the move.

He told Sky Sports: “Gabriel is a really good guy. Of course, it helps that we have the Brazilian link. When we were on international duty, we discussed his future and I was telling him, ‘Come to Arsenal! Come to Arsenal! Maybe I had a bit of an influence there.”

Jesus did not score on his competitive debut vs Arsenal, but his showing was very promising from an Arsenal fan’s perspective nonetheless.
