The eight clubs whom Premier League giants Manchester United could be paired up with in the next round of the Europa League have, late on Thursday, been revealed.
The Red Devils marked their return to action earlier this evening.
In the knowledge that their place in the competition’s knockout rounds was long secured, Erik ten Hag’s men made the trip to Spain, for a final day group stage meeting with La Liga outfit Real Sociedad.
Owing to goal difference, United headed into proceedings aware that a victory by two goals or more would be required for them to usurp hosts Sociedad as group winners at the last.
When all was said and done, however, the Reds failed to produce as much.
Instead, a solitary strike on the part of youngster Alejandro Garnacho – his first at senior level – proved the difference en route to a 1-0 final scoreline at the Anoeta.
