Real Madrid team news and predicted XI vs Manchester City

All the latest ahead of the Champions League showdown

Real Madrid and Carlo Ancelotti head to the Etihad stadium on Wednesday looking to defend their Champions League crown against arguably the best side in World Football coached by the best manager when they take on Manchester City.

Having drawn 1-1 in the first leg at the Santiago Bernabeu, both sides will need a win to take them through to the final, where they are on course to face Inter Milan as things stand.

Los Blancos have already watched La Liga slip away from them, with Barcelona confirmed as Spanish champions on Sunday after beating City rivals Espanyol.

But they will be hoping for a repeat of last season against City, which saw them edge through in extra time on the way to an eventual Champions League win at the expense of Liverpool.

Here’s how we expect Carlo Ancelotti to set his side out, and the latest team news from the Spanish capital.

Predicted XI

Team News

Real Madrid are sweating somewhat on the fitness of Eduardo Camavinga, with the impressive Frenchman having to be withdrawn on Saturday evening six minutes from time with an injury concern.

However, he has since been spotted in individual training, and could return on Wednesday to the left-back berth that he excelled in during the first leg.

Alternatively, Ferland Mendy or David Alaba could take over duties at fullback, with Eder Militao now back in contention for central defence having served his suspension during the first leg.

Another key decision will be whether Rodrygo keeps his place, with the Brazilian having impressed in recent weeks but perhaps a position where the industry of Federico Valverde will be preferred away from home.

Beyond those questions, it is largely a settled Los Blancos side that travels to the Eithad on Wednesday night.
