Real Madrid target Bayern Munich star amid contract standoff

Los Blancos are already planning their next signing

Real Madrid are waiting in the wings as they eye up a move for Bayern Munich defender Alphonso Davies amid continuing contract uncertainty for the Canadian fullback.

As things stand, Davies is out of contract in 2025, meaning that Bayern risk losing him for free should they be unable to agree a new deal or part ways with him in the coming months.

Over the summer, Davies’ agent shed doubt on his client potentially staying at the Allianz Arena, where he has two years left to run on his contract, by citing the instability at board level that has seen both CEO Oliver Kahn and sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic depart last season

“There seems to be too much instability and uncertainty about the direction of Bayern now”, he told German outlet Bild.

“Maybe it’s better if we wait until 2024 and see how things develop with the club before we move on to a new contract”.

Davies has since re-confirmed his loyalty to Bayern Munich, but was not willing to comment any further than the end of his current deal.

They claim that ‘He is not the only one who is on the radar, but he is the one who most desired and the most necessary’, with Ferland Mendy’s injury problems persisting and the Spanish giants confident that Davies could form a formidable partnership with Vinicius Jr on the left flank.

It is added that though they are not making any move for the 22-year-old right now, they are watching contract developments with interest and that Bayern ‘will not turn their backs on a transfer’ should they be unable to convince Davies to renew his contract in Bavaria.
