Real Madrid man set to pen new contract until 2028 at Santiago Bernabeu

The attacker is ready to prolong his stay in Spain

Real Madrid attacker Marco Asensio is set to prolong his stay in Madrid, with the two parties expected to agree on a new long term contract that will see him remain in the Spanish capital potentially all the way until 2028.

The Spaniard’s current deal runs out this summer, and there had been little movement on a new deal, but that appears to have changed.

As per the Athletic, ‘Marco Asensio is expected to renew his contract’, thanks in part to ‘the voice of Carlo Ancelotti, who has told the club several times that he wants Asensio to stay on.’

Both sides believe that a deal will be reached, and the only crease left to iron out is that of the length of any new deal, with a four or five-year deal being discussed.

The 27-year-old has previously been subject to interest from the Premier League, with Arsenal and Liverpool thought to be monitoring the situation. However, he has found his way back into the Los Blancos set up across the past 12 months, and has made 22 La Liga appearances this campaign, although just nine of those have been from the start.

Asensio is not the only player that the Spanish giants have to worry about this summer, with as many as seven first team stars set to leave on free transfers as it stands.

For Ceballos and Fernandez, both of whom are bit part squad players for Los Blancos, their futures appear to be at a crossroads, but there is hope that they will stay in Madrid and renew their current deals.
