Real Madrid dealt major injury blow during Celtic clash

It has proven a frustrating night in Glasgow for the La Liga champions

Spanish giants Real Madrid have, on Tuesday, been dealt an altogether alarming blow on the personnel front.

Carlo Ancelotti’s troops are of course locked in action at present.

Kicking the defence of their Champions League title into gear, Los Blancos made the trip to Parkhead, expected to emerge comfortable victors in a meeting with Scottish champions Celtic.

With 45 minutes played in Glasgow, though, the evening’s hosts, to their credit, have stood firm, not only holding their illustrious opponents at bay, but threatening at the other end, too.

And Real’s woes thus far on Tuesday night have not been confined solely to the scoreline.

In addition, as alluded to above, the European champions have been forced to contend with a concerning development on the injury front.

With half an hour on the clock, Real’s attacking talisman and captain pulled up holding his knee, before attempting to run the issue off.

After seeing his efforts prove to be in vain, though, Benzema was left with little choice but to limp down the pitch-side tunnel, replaced in his centre-forward berth by Eden Hazard.
