Spurs headed into the game having slipped down to 4th on Sunday following Newcastle’s 4-1 win over Southampton.
As for Liverpool, they began the day down in midtable and in fairly poor form.
However, the Reds took an early lead in the clash thanks to Mohamed Salah.
Andy Robertson played a cross to Darwin Nunez, who then set up Salah for the opener.
In the build up to the goal, Robertson had plenty of room to produce the cross that found Nunez as Emerson Royal was sat too deep despite playing at wing-back.
This was a regular occurrence in the first 45 and it allowed Liverpool far too much space down their left.
