Paris Saint-Germain director Luis Campos has, on Sunday, spoken out over both the club’s efforts to tie down a key member of their squad, and January efforts to add to Christophe Galtier’s ranks.
First up comes the latest on the future of Lionel Messi.
Veteran attacker Messi’s plans beyond the summer have of course long remained unclear, ahead of the expiration of his two-year contract in Paris.
PSG, for their part, are known to be keen to lock Messi down for at least one more season, as the Argentine continues to prove himself one of world football’s finest, even at the age of 35.
In turn, speaking to the media on Sunday, the aforementioned Campos confirmed that contract negotiations between the two parties are ongoing:
Turning attentions away from current squad members and towards one player who came close to making the move to the Parc des Princes during the January transfer window, Campos then opened up on his side’s ultimately fruitless pursuit of Chelsea wide-man Hakim Ziyech.
It is of course common knowledge that Ziyech came within minutes of a last-minute deadline day switch to France’s capital.
With the terms of a loan agreement in place between the two clubs, however, it is widely understood that the powers that be at Chelsea were responsible for a paperwork error, resulting in the transfer falling through.
And Campos today reiterated that both PSG and Ziyech himself were indeed keen on joining forces:
