Praise pours in for Rooney & Derby County stars as relegation to League One confirmed


 

Derby County's supporters have flooded to social media on Monday evening, to heap praise on the club's players and staff alike, despite the club's relegation to League One.

The Rams were back in action a short time ago.

With their status in the 2nd-tier of English football hanging by a thread, Wayne Rooney and co. made the trip to Loftus Road, desperate for all three points in a meeting with Queens Park Rangers.

A late strike on the part of Luke Amos, however, ultimately condemned Derby to a 1-0 defeat.

QPR, in turn, have gotten the club's push for a spot in the playoff places back on track.

'Couldn't be prouder'

At Derby, though, as alluded to above, reality will now be starting to very much settle in...

Owing to the club's hefty 21-point EFL-imposed deduction earlier in the campaign, the Rams have seen their valiant efforts to stave off what long appeared an inevitable drop into League One officially come up short.

The East Midlands outfit will therefore be forced to ply their trade in the third tier of English football for the 2022/23 campaign.

But, as alluded to above, despite what is set to go down as an altogether dark day in the club's history, many of a Derby persuasion have nevertheless this evening been keen to reveal their gratitude for the club's staff and players alike.
