Chelsea and Manchester City clash in the third round of the League Cup on Wednesday evening.

The Blues reached the final last season but lost to Liverpool, whilst Pep Guardiola’s side have become competition specialists in recent years.

Ahead of the game, Chelsea have not been in the best of form.

Chelsea’s most recent outing saw them lose 1-0 to Arsenal. And whilst the scoreline was nothing too concerning, the west Londoners’ display on the day was simply woeful.

Before that, Chelsea were smashed 4-1 by Brighton and were held to draws by Manchester United and Brentford.

Said run has already led to question marks over Potter’s future at Chelsea, but Pep Guardiola has urged Todd Boehly and co. to give the former Brighton boss time:

“No one has success from day 1 or 2, I’ve a lot of admiration for his work. What he did at Brighton was beyond exceptional & I’m pretty sure with time he will do a good job, I don’t have any doubts. He’s one of the best managers from my point of view, we have in this league”
