Pep Guardiola reveal Sir Alex Ferguson interaction before Champions League final

Pep Guardiola reveal Sir Alex Ferguson interaction before Champions League final.

Manchester City and Inter Milan went head-to-head in the 2022/23 Champions League final on Saturday evening.

The Sky Blues had a slow start to the game and were struggling to deal with Inter Milan’s press and back-five.

However, they eventually took the lead 68 minutes in thanks to a Rodri strike. The Spaniard’s goal was enough to hand Manchester City the win on the day, with top saves and defending from Ederson and Ruben Dias needed late on to keep Inter from equalising.

After becoming only the second Premier League manager to complete the treble, Pep Guardiola revealed, post-match, his interaction with Sir Alex Ferguson: “I can’t wait to be on the bus with the three trophies. It’s an honour for me to be like Sir Alex Ferguson – he sent me a message this morning (Saturday).”

Guardiola added: “Sometimes it looks like this competition this year, this final was written in the stars. The goal, the chances they had. Ederson’s save where in extra time you could lose the game.

“I will be the same person and we will be the same team and we will be the same club. Today was our year, but in the past to do it of course we are incredibly satisfied to achieve something unique, the Treble for this club.”
