Pep Guardiola confirms major Manchester City injury blow ahead of Arsenal

Manchester City have been dealt a big blow on the injury front.

Manchester City host Arsenal on Wednesday evening.

It is one of the biggest matches of the Premier League season and will likely decide who lifts the title in May.

Arsenal head into the game top of the Premier League by five points. However, Manchester City have two games in hand.

As a result, if City win or draw this tie, they will likely go on to be crowned champions. But if Arsenal win, they will have a two-point lead even if City win their two games in hand.

Ahead of the match, though, Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has revealed that Nathan Ake will miss the game and potentially the first-leg of their Champions League semi-final with Real Madrid:

“Hopefully he can come back soon but for tomorrow he is out. Don’t know about Madrid,” Guardiola told a press conference.

Ake has been City’s starting left-back since Joao Cancelo joined Bayern Munich on loan in January and the Sky Blues have little quality cover in this spot.

This will come as a major boost to Arsenal, who have some injury woes of their own with William Saliba and potentially Granit Xhaka set to miss the showdown on Wednesday.
