Newcastle boost: Eddie Howe reveals how long Alexander Isak will be sidelined

Eddie Howe has provided an injury update on Alexander Isak.

Newcastle United were dealt an injury blow over the international break as Alexander Isak picked up a knock whilst with Sweden.

The striker suffered a thigh injury in training, raising concerns on Tyneside as to how long he will be absent.

However, following a scan, Eddie Howe has revealed positive news regarding the striker.

Howe: “We’re not overly concerned it’s a long injury”

Howe claims that Newcastle are not concerned the 23-year-old will be missing for long.

The club are likely to be cautious though with rushing him back due to it being a muscle injury.

Howe revealed: “He picked up an injury training with Sweden but the scan doesn’t look too bad.

“With any muscle injury there’s a period where you have to be careful.

“He’s out running on the grass and is looking good.”

Isak has made a promising start to his time at St James’ Park netting 2 goals in his first 3 Premier League appearances.
