Serie A giants SSC Napoli have, late on Thursday, confirmed the latest installment on the club’s bench.
The last couple of months, of course, have proven something of a whirlwind for all associated with Napoli.
This comes after head coach Luciano Spalletti, fresh off leading the Partenopei to a first Scudetto title in over three decades, came to the decision to take a year away from football.
President Aurelio de Laurentiis confirmed as much late last month, thanking the Italian for a season which will live long in the memory in Naples.
Spalletti’s decision, though, left the powers that be at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium with a major job on their hands - identifying and bringing in a successor.
With the city of Naples having been reintroduced to the taste of winning, the Partenopei faithful will no doubt be desperate for their beloved club to kick on over the season ahead.
And such a trajectory will require the right man in the driver’s seat.
So, just who have De Laurentiis and co. decided upon as Spalletti’s replacement? Rudi Garcia.
In an official statement across the club’s website and social media platforms on Thursday evening, it was announced that:
‘Rudi Garcia has been named as Napoli’s new coach!’
Garcia, boasting past experience in Italy owing to a stint in the dugout at AS Roma, was most recently sent packing by Saudi outfit Al Nassr back in April.
