Mikel Arteta provides Emile Smith Rowe update ahead of Brentford

Mikel Arteta spoke to the press on Friday afternoon ahead of Arsenal’s next outing.

Arsenal face a trip to Brentford on Sunday at 12 pm UK time.

Ahead of the match, Mikel Arteta discussed a number of topics in his press conference, including team news.

However, the Spaniard offered a very coy update: “Unfortunately the update will be tomorrow when we have the last training session.”

On Emile Smith Rowe, he added: “There’s been an ongoing issue that he’s had, some discomfort in the groin area. It has continued this season. It is something we are trying to assess and help him in any way we can. We need him fit and performing at his best level.”

Brentford vs Arsenal

Arsenal face off with Thomas Frank’s Brentford at 12 pm this coming Sunday. The game was supposed to take place at 2, but has been moved forward two hours.

Arsenal head into the weekend’s action sat top of the Premier League with 15 points to their name from six outings.

Now, it will be interesting to see how the north Londoners fare against Brentford as, unlike the five teams Arsenal have beat in the Premier League this campaign, the Bees are a decent side.

Brentford are ninth in the division and have smashed Manchester United 4-0 this term, whilst Ivan Toney is in top form and recently earned himself an England call-up.
