Mateo Kovacic & Ben Chilwell among host of Chelsea stars tipped for exits in mass summer overhaul

A major player overhaul could be on the cards at Premier League giants Chelsea this summer, according to reports.

The subject of squad construction, of course, has taken its place front and centre in the headlines in west London over recent months.

This comes as new Chelsea owner Todd Boehly continues in efforts to restore the Blues’ personnel ranks to the level required to challenge for major honours.

Over the course of the last two transfer windows alone, the powers that be at Stamford Bridge have forked out well over half a billion pounds on reinforcements.

With such spending, however, will soon come the need for movement in the other direction.

And, as alluded to above, on Sunday, an insight into just some of a whole host of stars who could be shipped out of Chelsea ahead of next season has been provided.

The info comes courtesy of reliable outlet The Athletic, who point towards a primary focus being on shifting players with just a year remaining on their current contracts.

Should they fail to make clear an unwavering commitment to the cause in west London, in turn, the likes of Mason Mount, Mateo Kovacic, Cesar Azpilicueta, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Christian Pulisic and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang could all be on the move.

The overhaul is unlikely to end there, though, with it added that ‘Chelsea are also going to start looking at those who have only two years remaining’ on their deals.

This crop features a hefty seven members of Graham Potter’s squad, including big-money full-back Ben Chilwell, understood to be of interest to Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.
