Manchester United working to complete £80m Harry Kane deal ‘within weeks’

The Red Devils are keen to wrap up a deal early.

Manchester United are reportedly looking to wrap up a deal for Tottenham star Harry Kane in the coming weeks for just £80m as they look to strengthen their squad under Erik ten Hag this summer.

The Red Devils have made signing a new striker a priority this summer, with Wout Weghorst expected to return to Burnley when his loan ends and the future of injury-prone Anthony Martial unclear.

And they have identified a market opportunity in Kane, who is out of contract in 2024 with Spurs as it stands and is yet to enter negotiations over a new deal.

The Englishman, who became his nation’s top goalscorer of all time in the most recent international break, is thought to want to stay in the Premier League as he targets Alan Shearer’s all-time goalscoring record, which he sits 50 behind.

And, as per the Daily Star, ‘Ten Hag wants to get ahead of his rivals and is keen for talks with Spurs to begin in the coming weeks’, with £80m thought to be enough to persuade the Lilywhites into selling their talisman this summer.

‘United CEO Richard Arnold has sanctioned a potential deal’, they add, while on Kane’s part ‘United are his preferred choice’ should he move this summer.

As per the Manchester Evening News, they are ‘keeping tabs on Eintracht Frankfurt striker Randal Kolo Muani and Atalanta goalscorer Rasmus Hojlund should they be priced out of a move for Harry Kane.’

They will reportedly face competition from Premier League leaders Arsenal for the latter, while Kolo Muani has been priced at over 100m euros by Frankfurt, making Kane perhaps the most favourable option of the three.
