Manchester United considering terminating Cristiano Ronaldo’s contract

Manchester United could terminate Cristiano Ronaldo’s contract if they do not see a change in his attitude.

Ronaldo is determined to depart Manchester United this summer after just one season back at Old Trafford now the club do not have Champions League football, and his record of most goals scored in the competition is at stake.

CR7 did not report to the club’s pre-season tour of Asia due to ‘family reasons’, with his only pre-season outing seeing him notch 45 minutes vs Rayo Vallecano in a friendly at Old Trafford a week before the season started.

Even that outing caused controversy, though, as Ronaldo left the ground before the final whistle without permission from Erik ten Hag.

United then started without a striker vs Brighton in gamweek one due to Anthony Martial’s injury, but Ronaldo did come on from the bench.

The forward was then handed his first start of 2022/23 on Saturday as Manchester United were smashed 4-0 by Brentford.

Ronaldo again caught the headlines following that game, though, after he did not go over to the United fans post-match and did not shake Erik ten Hag’s hand.

This would allow Ronaldo to leave for free and likely make him a more appealing option for the countless Champions League clubs who have already rejected him this season.

It would also cost Manchester United a small fortune as CR7 is on a huge wage, believed to be around £500,000-a-week.
