Manchester City’s Julian Alvarez makes promise to Lionel Messi

Manchester City striker Julian Alvarez has been discussing Lionel Messi.

2022 is set to be Lionel Messi’s last World Cup. He has never won the trophy, but did reach the final in 2014 before losing to Germany.

However, Argentina are amongst the favourites this year and are expected to at least reach the semi-finals.

Should Messi win the 2022 World Cup, it would surely cement his legacy as the greatest player to grace a football pitch.

Argentina kick off their World Cup campaign up against Saudi Arabia.

Ahead of that game, Manchester City and Argentina forward Julian Alvarez has been discussing Lionel Messi.

The striker stated that Messi is one of a kind and that he will help the no.10 bring joy to Argentina:

“He is one of a kind. Obviously, having him in the team is a privilege and I’ll help him and the whole team bring joy to Argentina.

“He leads the group in a great way and this was reflected before the final [of the Copa America]. He said some amazing words. Being there you realise that he is a really normal person, he is a great person and a great captain.”
