Manchester City team news and predicted XI vs Bayern Munich

All the latest team news from the Etihad ahead of the second leg

Manchester City head to Bavaria in the driving seat of their Champions League last 8 tie, and with Bayern Munich needing a miracle to progress.

Pep Guardiola’s side take a 3-0 lead into the game, courtesy of a thrashing in the first leg at the Etihad, and look well placed to make their third semi-final in as many years and continue their mission of finally bringing a European trophy back to the Blue side of Manchester.

They will, however, have to be wary of carelessness, with Bayern more than capable of getting themselves back in the tie should they be given the opportunity to do so, and a loud German crowd behind them.

Predicted XI

Team News

Phil Foden remains sidelined for Manchester City after having surgery on his appendix during the international break last month, but aside from that it is largely a fully fit squad that Pep Guardiola will be able to choose from.

Both superstar striker Erling Haaland and defender John Stones were removed at half time in the 3-1 win over Leicester City over the weekend, while Rodri was taken off just 10 minutes into the second half, suggesting that all three will start.

There is still likely to be no place for Kyle Walker, however, with the Englishman still in and among the squad options to Guardiola but clearly not a first choice after the City boss revealed that he doesn’t believe the right-back has the technical quality to play for his new-look side.
