The 22-year-old has played 84 games across all competitions for Lyon, in which he has scored three and assisted 14.
However, Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas is reluctant to sell any of his star men this summer, although he does concede one or two may depart:
“We will not let go this summer one or maybe two players. As we have demands on half of the workforce, that means that there will be more disappointed than happy elected.”As quoted by footmercato.
Ndombele to replace Fernandinho or Gundogan?
With Man City reportedly leading the chase for Ndombele, you would expect the Frenchman to be coming into replace one of two players.
Fernandinho does a superb job in Man City’s holding midfielder role.
However, the Brazilian is now 33 and playing across four competitions has begun to catch up with him, evident by the fact he is currently out injured.
Ilkay Gundogan has instead been playing in said role in recent matches.
However, the German’s contract is expiring in 2020 and he has yet to open talks over a new deal.
So, City may opt to cash in on Gundogan this summer rather than letting him leave for free next season.
Gundogan spoke about his City contract situation on Monday, find out what he said here.
