Tottenham’s ongoing chase for Tanguy Ndombele
Tottenham’s number one target this summer is reportedly Tanguy Ndombele.
Not only does Ndombele have a similar name to former Spurs midfielder Moussa Dembele, but is also a very similar player.
Ndombele is a powerful midfield player, able to hold onto the ball in tight spaces and also shield the defence.
Spurs did not replace Dembele when they sold the Belgian international in the January transfer window, but look likely to plug this specific gap in the coming days.
Have Lyon signed Tanguy Ndombele’s replacement?
Late last week, a number of reliable publications suggested that Tottenham’s ongoing pursuit of Ndombele would be held up by Lyon’s chase for a replacement.
On Tuesday, Lyon have confirmed the signing of Jean Lucas on social media. See the posts below.

Intriguingly, Lyon also confirm that Jean Lucas will be presented as a Lyon player this afternoon, in a press conference alongside OL president Jean Michel Aulas.
Will Tottenham now accelerate their move for Tanguy Ndombele?
The latest reports, late last week, suggested that Tottenham remained in negotiations with Lyon for Ndombele.
On Monday, it was confirmed in the Evening Standard that Tottenham were still working on a deal for Ndombele.
It seems very likely that Ndombele will be Tottenham’s record signing if they do manage to get this deal over the line.
At just 22, Ndombele appears to be a great fit for Tottenham, and will complement the likes of Harry Winks and Moussa Sissoko in the central midfield area.
Expect more updates now that Jean Lucas has signed for Lyon…
