Liverpool line up yet another Chelsea man for summer move

The Reds are on the hunt for midfield additions

Liverpool are continuing to monitor Chelsea’s potential fire sale this summer as they line up a potential move for Conor Gallagher to strengthen their midfield.

The Reds, whose need for midfield additions are well documented and were clearly shown once more in their 4-1 hammering at the hands of Manchester City on Saturday.

Jude Bellingham is their no.1 target, while they have also been strongly linked with a move for Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount as they look to refresh their ranks.

But that is not the only man from West London they are considering, with reports that compatriot Conor Gallagher is catching the eye amid claims that ‘the 23-year-old features high up on Liverpool’s list for midfield reinforcements.’

And, as per the Independent, ‘Gallagher has exactly the kind of energy and attributes that could go to another level in the German’s team’, despite not really being offered much of a chance at Stamford Bridge.

Under contract until 2025, Gallagher has been linked with a move away from west London for the last two transfer windows, with Newcastle United among those reportedly interested in his services.

His sale for around £45m would be a massive boost to Chelsea’s coffers, with the fact that Gallagher counts as homegrown meaning that they could record that entirely as profit, seriously boosting their finances.

There are expected to be wholesale changes in the Blues squad this summer, with all of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Hakim Ziyech, Callum Hudson Odoi, Romelu Lukaku and Mateo Kovacic all expected to depart this summer, while the future of Mason Mount remains unresolved.
