Chelsea concluded their pre-season tour with an ill-tempered draw with Malaysian champions Johor Darul Ta’zim.
There were six goals and seven yellow cards across the 90 minutes as the game ended all square, with the planned penalty shootout called off.
Johor took an early lead against the run of play before Liam Delap levelled from the penalty spot before half-time.
Delap then missed a good chance to add a second for a youthful Blues side, but the forward later atoned for his miss after the break, scoring again from the penalty spot.
However, the game was then turned on its head when Johor netted twice to re-take the lead in the final minutes.
But there was still time for a third Chelsea goal, with Mykhailo Mudryk’s cross being turned into his own net by Antonio Glauder to once again draw Xabi Alonso’s men level.
Throughout the clash, there appeared to be some growing friction between the two sides, caused by a number of late tackles and swipes off the ball.
It culminated in some confusion at the full-time whistle when the penalty shootout that had been scheduled was abruptly cancelled.
The hosts’ players walked off the pitch as the Chelsea players stood around waiting for a decision.
