Paris Saint-Germain have completed the signing of Aston Villa defender Lucas Digne after triggering the £8.5 million release clause in his contract.
The France international has signed a three-year deal with the European champions, returning to the Parc des Princes more than a decade after his first spell at the club.
Digne spent three years at PSG before leaving for Barcelona in 2016 and returns after eight seasons in the Premier League with Everton and Aston Villa.
“I am very honoured to be returning to Paris Saint-Germain following the wonderful experience I had here more than ten years ago,” Digne said.
“I am particularly impressed by how the club has developed over the years.”
The 33-year-old is expected to provide competition for Nuno Mendes at left-back in Luis Enrique’s squad.
Digne joined Aston Villa from Everton in January 2022 and made a significant contribution during his time at Villa Park, helping the club win last season’s Europa League – their first major trophy since 1996.
His departure makes him the third senior player to leave Villa this summer, following Morgan Rogers’ move to Chelsea and Youri Tielemans’ switch to Manchester United.
PSG, who retained the Champions League last season after defeating Arsenal on penalties in the 2026 final, have strengthened their squad with the addition of the experienced full-back as they bid to defend their European crown once again.
