Liverpool’s injury woes have taken a further hit on Saturday.
Both Joel Matip and Trent Alexander-Arnold picked up injuries in midweek vs Rangers and are expected to miss the Reds’ clash with Manchester City on Sunday.
And now, The Athletic are reporting that Liverpool’s Ibrahima Konate is a fitness doubt for Sunday’s Premier League clash with Manchester City at Anfield.
The France international made his first start of the season when he partnered Virgil van Dijk at the heart of defence in the 7-1 Champions League thrashing of Rangers in midweek.
However, he missed training on Friday due to a muscle problem and was due to undergo further assessment on Saturday, putting his involvement against City in jeopardy.
This would leave Jurgen Klopp with Joe Gomez and Natt Phillips to fill the void left by Trent, Matip and Konate.
Liverpool vs Manchester City
The Reds have won just two of eight games and their title hopes are all but over already.
As for Manchester City, they remain the only side left undefeated in the top-flight this campaign.
However, the Sky Blues are not currently top of the Premier League, as Arsenal are one point above them.
It seems very likely that Man City will go top sooner rather than later, though, with the Gunners now likely City’s biggest rivals this year ahead of Liverpool.
