Liverpool 4-3 Tottenham: Match report, player ratings, fan reaction & more

Liverpool and Tottenham faced off in a Premier League match on Sunday.

It was a must-win game for both sides. Tottenham head into the match 5th in the division but only two points separated them and 8th place Brighton, who have two games in hand.

Liverpool, meanwhile, are chasing a Europa League spot and beating Spurs would have gone a long way to helping them achieve that.

And when all was said and done at Anfield, Liverpool came away with the win.

Liverpool opened the scoring after just three minutes vs Spurs. Trent Alexander-Anrold whipped in a cross, which Curtis Jones slotted past Forster.

Tottenham’s nightmare run continued as Luis Diaz – starting for the first time since October – made it 2-0 after five minutes.

Eight minutes later, Cristian Romero fouled Cody Gakpo to give away a penalty, which Mohamed Salah scored.

Spurs had a much brighter start to the second 45 and forced Alisson into some good stops. But as the game wore on, Tottenham faded and looked unlikely to find a second goal.

However, Heung-min Son made an excellent run to get on the end of Romero through ball before slotting past Alisson.

Richarlison then came off the bench and scored in the 92nd minute to equalise for the away outfit. Spurs could not hold out for a draw, though, as Diogo Jota scored in the 94th minute to put Liverpool back in front and win the game.
