Lionel Messi targeted with threat after family’s store attacked in Argentina

An altogether unsavoury story surrounding seven-time Ballon d’Or winner Lionel Messi has come to the fore on Thursday evening.

The news centers on developments in Messi’s home town of Rosario, in Santa Fe, Argentina.

As confirmed by local police, a supermarket owned by the family of the iconic attacker’s wife – Antonela Roccuzzo – was attacked by armed gunmen in the early hours of Thursday.

The two men in question are understood to have fired no fewer than fourteen shots at the shutters and front door of the ‘Unico’ food store.

Conceringly, local officials later confirmed that the attack also featured a threatening note, addressed directly to Messi.

The message, written on a piece of cardboard before being left at the scene, read:

For those not aware, Pablo Javkin is the mayor of Rosario.

Prosecutor Federico Rébola has since confirmed that an official investigation into the incident is now underway, albeit one still at the preliminary stages.
