Leicester’s Ben Chilwell reportedly tempted by move to Chelsea

A recent report in the English media suggests that Leicester’s Ben Chilwell is open to moving to Chelsea.

Chilwell’s Leicester stint

Chilwell is a product of the Foxes’ youth system, and, following a brief loan spell with Huddersfield in 2016, began to be afforded more chances as part of Leicester’s first-team.

In total, the 23-year-old has notched 118 appearances across all competitions for Leicester, in which he has scored three and assisted twelve.

Chilwell has been particularly impressive over the last couple of years, combining strong defensive ability with a solid attacking threat, making him arguably one of the top left-backs in the Premier League at this moment in time.

Chilwell’s impressive displays of late have also seen him begin to cement himself as one of England’s main left-backs, with the stopper having racked up 11 appearances for Gareth Southgate’s men.

Chelsea eyeing Chilwell

Unsurprisingly, Chilwell’s impressive form over recent seasons has seemingly attracted the interest of one of England’s biggest clubs.

The side in question are Chelsea, with the capital giants having been persistently linked with the Leicester standout for some time now.

In recent days, meanwhile, those links have re-emerged in force, with The Athletic having reported that Frank Lampard has made the signing of a new left-back a priority, and Chilwell said to be his first-choice.

And now, as mentioned above, a fresh report on Friday has suggested that the Leicester man is also open to joining Chelsea.

According to the Mirror, Chilwell is tempted by a move to Stamford Bridge later this summer.

However, it is crucially added that the defender has not yet demanded to quit Leicester.

In terms of the potential fee which Chelsea may have to part with to land Chilwell, the Telegraph claimed at the back end of May that the 23-year-old could cost in the region of £40m.
