Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne etched his name ever further into the club’s history books on Saturday afternoon.
Pep Guardiola’s troops, of course, were back in action a short time ago.
Aware that a three-point haul would see them, at least temporarily, leapfrog Arsenal to the Premier League’s summit, the Sky Blues welcomed Ralph Hasenhuttl’s Southampton to the Etihad.
And, when all was said and done, reclaim their place atop the English top-flight table is precisely what the evening’s visitors went on to do.
This came owing to a predictably one-sided 4-0 romp, featuring goals on the part of all of Joao Cancelo, Phil Foden, Riyad Mahrez and Erling Haaland.

And yet, as alluded to above, on the back of the full-time whistle in Manchester on Saturday, it is not the latest batch of City goalscorers who have in fact stolen the headlines.
Belgian international De Bruyne, as expected, was afforded his latest starting berth against Southampton, fresh off a scintillating opening to the campaign.
The 31-year-old, in turn, went on to enjoy a typically fine afternoon’s work, registering his 9th league assist of the term in laying on Phil Foden just beyond the half-hour mark.
And, in the process, KDB secured for himself an altogether noteworthy piece of history.
As per statisticians Opta, in registering his 94th Premier League assist in Manchester City colours on Saturday, De Bruyne overtook David Silva as the club’s leading provider in the competition:
