Jurgen Klopp provides post-Lyon injury update on Harvey Elliott

Liverpool head coach Jurgen Klopp has, late on Sunday evening, provided an insight into the wellbeing of midfield starlet Harvey Elliott.

For those not aware, Elliott sparked widespread concern across the Liverpool fanbase earlier today.

This came upon the 19-year-old being hauled off during the Reds’ friendly meeting with Olympique Lyonnais.

En route to a 3-1 defeat in the Dubai Super Cup, Elliott was hauled off just shy of the half-hour mark, with what appeared to be a muscular issue.

Speaking in a press conference on the back of proceedings coming to a close at the Al-Maktoum Stadium, Jurgen Klopp, in turn, was asked for an update on the fitness of his gifted young midfielder.

And, in news which will no doubt come as a major source of relief for those of a Liverpool persuasion, the club’s boss went on to reveal that Elliott’s withdrawal was largely precautionary:

“Harvey got a knock before we scored, Harvey got a knock,” Klopp began. “But I think we were lucky.

“He looks fine now but he feels it, that’s normal, there was contact. But I hope we were lucky in that moment.”
